My 4 passages 
It really amazed me after my listening the whole story. A robber with a gun rushed into a house without stealing anything but only a crystal wine glass and every person’s hug those who were in this house. No one was hurt of course. Actually to say, he even didn’t want to take away the glass if the fingerprints didn’t on it. The result was out of everyone’s thought. Why he didn’t steal anything. I think it has a close relation to the people who were present there.

The parents showed their wonder intelligence in this danger situation. They didn’t cry or flustered, they just calm down themselves while the robber would not feel nervous, or he might do something drastic. They also invite him to have a drink with them; the defense of the robber’s heart was soon routed. He begun to feel apologize about his rudeness and even want a group hug to compensate his fault.

I think what the parents do give us a new but effective way to solve problems when we are in danger or face something spiny. I think everyone has a soft heart. If we can help them and melt the ice which is in the depth of their heart, the world will become better.  (10.12)

 After reading the second half of the unit, one word attracts me very much, which is called “sincere”.

In the modern time, people become more and more isolated from others, and the communication between less and less too, the sincere communication is even less. Everyone wants to get other people’s sincerity. If you want others to treat you sincerely, you should first take the initiative in good faith towards others. How do you treat others, others will treat you in the same way, as the write said “no one wants false praise”, sincerity is from the depth of your heart which can be felt comfortable by others and also warm your heart. It is undeniable that there has such a person: hypocrisy, cunning, insidious, However, such a person in life, after all, one of very few. When their faces fully exposed, will be criticized by everybody.

So we should take the initiative to pay a sincere friendly，If you are going to say something, be sincere   (9.28)

After I read the passage, I was absolutely attracted by the sentence “when I make others feel good about them. I feel good too” which drew me into many extraordinary days I went through.

I still remember that I once took part in a sports meeting when I was in middle school, the competition I joined was 800-metre race ,because I had practiced for long time, I was full of confidence. It was time to begin and everyone had got ready except my classmate. She even hadn’t put on her running shoes. “What’s up?” I ask her. “I am so nervous. I must be the last one. I am going to trop out the game.” She said dejected. “Come on, friend, you’ll never be beat down except for yourself, pick up your confidence. I trust you.” At last, both of us went into the finals, although either of us becomes the last winner, it’s enough. We both defeated ourselves.

From my story, I have understood that everyone needs confidence and courage when he or she is in depressed. If some one gave him or her a hand at this time, even some words, could summon up their courage and uplift them. They will feel their strength was reinforced and full of energy. You the helper will much more happiness also. (9.18)
I have studied English for about 10 years but I still get many problems on studying English. I think my foundation of English is OK, but my grammar become poorer and poorer, because  practice is reduced ,and I always make some grammar mistakes, like how to use "on, in" in right way. My vocabulary is limited so I haven't found right way to remember new words easily. I hope in your class I can learn some ways that can help me to solve these problems.
  I think my oral English is good. but my vocabulary is limited which influences me to talk with foreigners frequently. My listening is OK I think. Practice makes improvement. I hope I can make determination to listen to some English dialogues everyday. I like listen foreign music and movies which I can learn something from them.
 Finally, I hope in this class I can get higher step in English. (9.14)

My group discussion
Cici's question, In paragraph 2, the sentence “As a matter of fact, on the late 1960s, when……by women students had diminished noticeably.”is too long, and the structure is difficult to me. I do not know what it means. I think her question is worthwhile for me, because I also have same problem in this sentence which puzzles me a lot, it include some praises that can not been answered easily, like “taking over”, I think in Chinese in means接管。The sentence may probably means that boys are more positive than girls.

In paragraph 2, the structure of the sentence “their research showed that many teachers who thought they were nonsexist were amazed to see how biased they appeared on videotape” puzzled me a lot.

I couldn't understand the phrase “take over” in paragraph2, who can tell me the real meaning of it in the whole sentence.
I was puzzled by the first sentence in paragraph 3; the structure is complex, so that I couldn’t know the meaning.
